Ms. Jane Clarke, LCSW
Ms. Jane Clarke is an ardent believer in talk therapy. She often says, “every person should go to therapy at least once because it provides a safe environment for processing personal issues.” She’s abided by that belief throughout her 30 years working with the US military Family Service Centers and Vet Center providing therapy and other services to thousands of active-duty military and civilian personnel, veterans, and families as well as non-military populations in the United States and overseas.
Ms. Clark’s affiliation with the military community dates to when she served on active duty, as well as the many years being a military spouse. She’s moved numerous times, both in the United States and overseas. She understands the stressors military communities encounter and incorporates that knowledge in her therapeutic approach. Her last five years of Federal service were spent supporting military personnel and their families in the Kingdom of Bahrain and in Europe as a program manager and a clinician.
Ms. Clark is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker whose scope of practice included, individual and couple’s counseling, addressing issues of self-confidence, career and adjustment challenges, trauma, domestic violence, sexual assault, stress management, anger management, separation, grief/loss, financial difficulties, enhancing communication and other life stressors.
Her therapeutic approach is Eclectic. Its flexible and multifaced approach has been effective in improving presenting problem outcomes. Therapeutic modalities she’s found helpful with clients were: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Trauma-focus, and trauma-informed therapy, Brief Solution-Focused therapy, and Crisis Intervention Therapy. She has an excellent reputation for engaging and building a therapeutic relationship with clients who were initially resistant to therapy.
Ms. Clark received her Bachelor of Arts in Social Work from San Diego State University and after several Permanent changes of station moves, she completed her Master’s in Social Work from Florida State University, Tallahassee Florida. Jane was determined to start and complete her MSW program to the extent that she commuted twice a week from Gainesville, Fl to Tallahassee Florida to attend classes.
Ms. Clark is fluent in Spanish. She’s worked with diverse populations, ethnically, racially, Christian, and non-Christian. Her Christian faith has been the hallmark of her life, when appropriate she has incorporated it into therapy.
